Club Open Day 2017    Saturday 13th May

Spinnaker Sailing Club opened its doors to the public on the 13th May for a happy, fun-filled, breezy and mainly sunny day. Some of the questions we were tyring to answer included –

  • Do you want to start sailing?
  • Would you like your children to have sailing lessons?
  • Perhaps you want to come back to sailing after a break?
  • Do you currently sail on the sea but your free time rarely seems to match the tide times?

On offer were sailing and kayaking sessions, family fun activities including a Treasure Hunt and delicious burgers and hotdogs fresh off the BBQ. Members and staff were present to answer any questions about membership and/or training, and we were pleased to welcome many new members either as annual members or as the 6-week taster memberships that were on offer.

Those who had wondered what it was like to drive a Safety boat were able to take to the wheel for 10 Minutes and have a go.

This year’s Open Day was held in conjunction with the RYA push the boat out campaign.

Some who had been IMG_1237thinking of learning to sail but were not 100% sure if it was for them came down and let the club’s members show them the ropes.

Spinnaker is the New Forest’s best kept secret, and the Open Day is always a great day for you to come along and find out what we are all about. Other activities on offer during the day were the chance to head out on to the water in a wide range of boats, book children onto a taster session or one of the RYA courses we run throughout the year, get faces painted and become a pirate, and besides all that a chance to get a feel for the club and what is on offer. If you missed joining us today, keep your eyes peeled for next year’s date, pop in sometime and have a chat with our great office team, or visit our stand at this year’s New Forest Show.
