Jo Newall-Smith 13/05/1950 -11/03/2017

I am sure that many of you will remember Jo, who sadly, died on 11th March after a long illness.
Jo was a lovely person; a keen Laser sailor and a very loyal servant of the Club.

He was for many years on the sailing committee and most importantly edited, illustrated and produced the club’s newsletter “Centreboard”. Before the days of the internet this was the Club’s principal means of communicating with its members. Jo produced a vibrant, interesting and informative magazine that was highly regarded by members and the RYA.

Jo came to Spinnaker via the Sea Scouts, for whom he was also an enthusiastic supporter. Jo was a quiet man, small and lean, but with a big grin, a big heart and a wicked sense of humour. He will be greatly missed.

I am sure that you will join me in sending condolences to Steph, Felix and Lottie. The family are holding a private funeral., but are collecting donations in Jo’s memory for New Forest Sailability via the following link:- http://jolyon.newallsmith.muchloved.com
