Spinnaker Optimist sailors invited to compete in the Team Selection Trials

4 of Spinnaker Optimist sailors have been invited to compete in the Team Selection Trials.

This event is held over 4 days from 3rd-6th May.

In 2011 both Milo Gill-Taylor and Joseph Burns both finished in the top 5 and qualified for the Worlds team and competed in New Zealand.

In 2012 Milo Gill-Taylor Joseph Burns and William Bedford qualified for the event. Milo Gill-Taylor won the event and was the youngest sailor to have done so. Unfortunately Joseph closely missed out on a team place.

This year Milo Gill-Taylor, William Bedford, Daniel Burns and Adele Young have all qualified for the event, they need to be in the top 80 in the UK to be invited.

Only the Top 5 overall at the end of the event qualify for the Worlds team, the next 7 qualify for the European team, there are also places for Development and Flanders teams.

We  would like to wish all of the sailors the best of luck for the event on behalf of the Optimist Flotilla and Spinnaker Club.

Lee Young.  Oppy racing.
