COMPLETED e-Holman bowl series
The first Wednesday evening racing for the year took place this week. Like the real Holman Bowl, this series includes a personal handicap for every race win, a sailor has to complete a 720 after the start.
Race 1 was sailed in Stars at Portsmouth. Andy M took a slim lead at the first mark but was overhauled down wind. He got the lead back when Keith missed the leeward mark. He never looked back and had a healthy win. Race 2 was held in J70s in Mallorca. We had 3 juniors on the start line and it was one of them, Robbie, who was best away. Andy M completed his 720 and set off in chase moving through the fleet. By Mark 1 he was in second and then hunted down Robbie through the rest of the race finally getting ahead for a another bullet. The final race of the evening was in 49ers to a back drop of the Golden Gate Bridge. Having organized the Race, the Race Officer then went on a sightseeing tour with Andy M and missed the race. The Race Officer understands that Jae showed his heels to the rest of the fleet followed in by Robbie. Just like the real Holman Bowl, competitors needed to record who was ahead and who was behind them at the finish.
Back to Portsmouth next Wednesday. Hoping to see more of you on the water. There are 5 more weeks, 15 more races. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for details on how to enter.
